Enterprise Amateur Radio Society P.O.Box 310034 Enterprise, Alabama 36331-0034 June 2006 Minutes The meeting was called to order by Todd-KI4DFC at 7:02 PM. Introductions of all present were made. The minutes of the May meeting were read and approved. The treasurer's report was read and approved. PRESIDENT'S REPORT: Todd-KI4DFC welcomed all present and stated that we would be discussing the upcoming Field Day. He further informed all that the first storm of the season had arrived and we all should get our storm kits ready. VICE-PRESIDENT'S REPORT: No report PIO'S REPORT: Glenn -KD4FNI said that he has sent out Field Day notices to the local newspapers and radio stations. REPEATER COMMITTEE REPORT: Jerry-N4RYC reported that all equipment was working properly. After some explanation, he stated that the tone on the repeater would only be required from 10 PM to 7 AM. This is the time that band openings create a problem. Meanwhile , no tone is needed. EC'S REPORT: Jim-KL0LN said that he is still seeking contact with the Coffee County Fire Fighters Association to see about the radio equipment that they have and no longer use. He also discussed what equipment is needed at the Coffee County EMA office. OLD BUSINESS: There was no old business to discuss. NEW BUSINESS: Work on the Red Cross shelter antennas systems were completed. Rick-N4JAG, Jerry-N4RYC, Jim-KL0LN and Ken- KG4RND replaced the coax at Elba. It was decided that the Diamond antenna should stay there. Rick who was at Red Cross headquarters stated that the room will have to be cleaned out before it is usable as a communications office. On the 13th, Jim-KL0LN, Rick-N4JAG and Jerry-N4RYC installed the dual band j-pole and coax at the First Baptist Church. The question was asked what we know about the shelter at EOCC. It is our understanding that EMA will run the shelter but it will be staffed by Red Cross volunteers. Buck-K4HKR stated that during the storm that we participated in, the Red Cross had no generator and had to use ours. They need to have their own generator on hand. Jim-KL0LN suggested that Todd contact WKMX to check on the possibility of them donating their trailer and tower to EARS for emergency services.
