September 2006 Minutes

The meeting was called to order by Todd-KI4DFC at 7:04 PM.

Introductions were made.

The minutes of the August meeting were read and approved.

The treasures's report was read and approved.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT:

Todd-KI4DFC welcomed all present.

VICE PRESIDENT'S REPORT:

The vice president was absent.

PIO REPORT:

Glenn- KD4FNI had nothing to report.

EC REPORT:

Jim- KL0LN had nothing to report.

REPEATER COMMITTEE REPORT:

Jerry- N4RYC reported that all APRS digi's and the voice repeater are 
working fine.  The APRS server is still being worked on by Bob- WA4GIU, 
Trying to get it protected from virus and still have remote control.

OLD BUSINESS:

The only old business is the upcoming Montgomery hamfest on November 11th.

NEW BUSINESS:

The application for membership of Brian Slaughter- KI4QUY was voted upon and 
he was accepted.

Jim- KL0LN stated that Duanne- WA4WQW is doing well following his open heart 
surgery.

Billy Palmer-W4WJP gave a presentation about the Alabama State Defense Force 
and the Dale County EMA/EC and their Emergency Radio Team.  Anyone 
interested in participating can get more informatiom at WWW.DC-ERT.ORG .

Todd-KI4DFC has talked to James-KE4GWW about obtaining some HEAVY duty 
batteries removed from cel tower sites.

The current officers have stated a willingness to run again for next year.  
The election will be in October.

Todd- KI4DFC stated that a new TV show "Jehrico" mentioned ham radio.

This year's Christmas dinner will be at Po Folks on December 16th.

James- AC0CW reported that a new post regulation prohibits use of cel phones 
and microphones by the driver while in a moving vehicle.  He will research 
that regulation further and report at next month's meeting.
