Repeater News de Jack/W4UZR

The W4UZR repeater has been slightly modified. It now has a subaudible tone board installed to access the machine. This was done due to people accessing other repeaters on the same frequency and bringing up this machine also. Some folks like to run a lot of power it seems, since some of the other machines are a long way away!

Plans are to have the repeater antenna on the water tower on highway 27 around the end of February (with a little luck). This should give better coverage to the Geneva County area. The voice ID is now female, thanks to Kristen/KF4CHK. And thanks to Aaron/KFBHP, for his help in making modifications on the machine.

Here are the particulars for those who don't know:

  • Input frequency: 144.670 Mhz
  • Output frequency: 145.270 Mhz
  • Access tone: 103.5 hz

Deja Vu' All Over Again...

The ARRL has asked the FCC to create a new entry-level Amateur Radio license that would include HF phone privileges without requiring a Morse code test. The League has also proposed consolidation of all current licensees into three classes with only the highest class requiring a 5-WPM Morse Code element.

Can You Hear Me Now?

Justin/KG4VBK recently traded in his big Kenwood 940SAT system for a portable Yaesu 817 QRP rig. So he's started all over again trying to achieve WAS and DXCC ... this time running less than 5 watts using CW and PSK31.
