The EARS Christmas dinner was held at Po Folks in Enterprise on December 12th. A total of 27 hungry souls attended the feast which certainly met all culinary expectations. The initial half-hour of pre-meal socializing ended with Rick/N4JAG and Jim/KLØLN cheerfully welcoming everyone to the annual event. However, joy turned to moans as Buck/K4HKR was introduced to provide a few brief remarks. Disapproval grew louder as Buck unfurled a lengthy scroll containing stories he intended to share with us all. But sorrow quickly turned to laughter as Buck opted to limit his stage appearance to a single short anecdote. Jim/KA4AFI led members and guests in prayer after which a race for good eats began. But fear once again struck the gathering when folks noticed that Gary/K4EXT (your wide-bodied newsletter editor) had positioned himself near the front of the serving line. Murmurs of "Guard That Turkey" and "Hide The Damn Yams" could be readily overheard! All-in-all, everyone seemed to have a great time. Plenty of food was consumed ... wine supplied by Jerry/N4RYC and Jack/W4UZR got swished down ... and folks walked away happy (albeit more like rolled away happy in my case). |
