Editorial de Gary/K4EXT

The comprehensive ARRL Web Site includes information specific to ham radio clubs. Near the end of their Club Companion page reads the following:

Many clubs are searching for database programs, which compile and maintain membership lists. Some clubs desire a program for club finances. Still other clubs are setting up their own in-club reflectors on the Internet to keep the members informed on local activities. If you, or a group you are familiar with, have a software program that works well with a club-related program, let us know so we can share this with other clubs.

On August 18, 2003, Justin/KG4VBK (believed to be EARS youngest active member at age 17) contacted the ARRL via Email and described two browser-based (ASP) ham club software programs that he had authored: vbkROSTER for ham club membership and vbkNET for ham net management. Justin received a quick reply from the ARRL Club and Education Correspondent (KB1DCO) thanking him for his information and stating "we will be looking into this".

So here it is, nearly seven months later, and still no further response from the ARRL on his submissions. Accepted ... who knows? Rejected ... who knows?

In the meanwhile, other clubs have evaluated and purchased his software creations, thus validating their usefulness. But, nada from the ARRL in spite of their own published solicitation for club software products!

Yo League ... whassup?
