Amateur Radio Exams

Exams are given after each monthly EARS meeting (except for December). Please contact Tom/WA4YQT at 763-0532 at least 24 hours in advance to schedule an exam.

Election Time

October's EARS meeting will include election of officers for the coming year. We are fortunate that all current officers have been successfully blackmailed coerced bribed persuaded to serve for another year, so the official list of nominees is as follows:

  • President: Jim/KLØLN
  • Vice-President: Buck/K4HKR
  • Secretary/Treasurer: Rick/N4JAG
  • PIO: Ken/KG4VBM

Article II of our Constitution provides that officers be elected for a term of one year by ballot of the members present, provided there be a quorum, at the regular meeting in October. In case there is not a quorum at the October meeting, all members not present and able to vote will automatically enter an absentee vote of YES for all positions unless said member has notified any currently elected officer in advance of the October meeting that he/she desires to vote NO.

Please note that Gary/K4EXT has (once again) selfishly refused to relinquish his post as EARS newsletter editor (which is not an elected officer position).

Also note that Justin/KG4VBK has volunteered to continue as official EARS webmaster extraordinaire (which also is not an elected officer position).

Christmas Dinner News de Rick/N4JAG

The EARS Annual Christmas dinner will be held at Po Folks on the circle in Enterprise beginning at 7:00pm on Friday, December 17th. Please arrive around 6:30pm for socializing prior to dinner.

The menu will be similar to last year - fried turkey, ham, and all the usual trimmings. The price will also probably be the same ... $12.00 per person (tip included).

Note that our Christmas Dinner is not just for EARS members, but also for all local area hams and their families.

Please RSVP to Rick/N4JAG as soon as possible.

September EARS Meeting

In case you didn't notice ... the September 16th EARS meeting was cancelled due to Hurricane Ivan. Hopefully, all EARS members and their families fared well during that nasty storm!

EARS 2-Meter Repeater Status

The most recent update from Bob/WA4GIU on reconstruction of the EARS repeater is that the controller board appears to be working fairly well at times, but additional problems exist elsewhere in our deep-fried machine.

Let's all sing it together now ...

All we want for Christmas is our re-pea-ter,
our re-pea-ter, our re-pea-ter.

Upcoming Area Hamfests

The Montgomery Amateur Radio Club Annual Hamfest is November 13th in Montgomery, Alabama.
