Amateur Radio Exams

Exams are given after each monthly EARS meeting. Please contact Tom/WA4YQT at 763-0532 at least 24 hours in advance to schedule an exam.

Election Time

The October EARS meeting will include election of officers for the coming year. Candidates and/or draftees will be announced in the October newsletter.

If you want to nominate someone, or if you want to serve as a real live officer for the coming year, please let Rick/N4JAG know ASAP.

Please note that Gary/K4EXT, not exactly known as the sharpest knife in the drawer, has foolishly agreed to continue as EARS newsletter editor (which is not an elected officer position).

Also note that Justin/KG4VBK, apparently too young to know any better, has agreed to continue as official EARS webmaster (which also is not an elected officer position).

EARS 2-Meter Repeater Status

Bob/WA4GIU is having trouble getting folks at Advanced Communication Systems (the company that inherited Kendecom's repeater business) to respond to technical queries on parts. Their support for old Mark-4 products is pretty much nil (although Bob tends to use much more colorful words when referring to ACS).

New Web Site Reminder

Justin/KG4VBK has offered his webmaster skills and services in creating a new web site for EARS members. The www.EARSweb.com site includes a variety of features such as:

  • Tropical Weather Links & Hot News
  • APRS/Repeater/Scanner Lookups
  • EARS Message Forum & Member Info
  • Field Day Pics (2003 and 2004)

Please change the callsign for Hal McClamma from N3LI to WX4USA. Note that Hal's son Saxon is licensed as KX4USA. Pretty neat, huh?
