Now that the holidays are pretty much over - for a little while, anyway - please take a look at this newsletter or your mailing label. If your dues were due in September, October or November now is the time to get your check in the mail. Following the Christmas dinner, our treasury is down a bit. (I know - following Christmas, your own treasury is probably down a bit, too!) Everyone chipping in and paying your over-due dues would really help. I don't want to drop anyone from the roster because of the busy and hectic times just past. Thank you for your support. Should be in great shape when returned in a few weeks. 73, Jim, KA4AFI BREAKFAST IN ENTERPRISE Dotties will no longer be open for breakfast on Saturday mornings. We are looking for a new place to meet, so call on the repeater to see where we are when on your way. EMERGENCY COMMO VAN Word from Larry Murphy: Training for amateur operators is scheduled Friday, January 19, 2001, Time: 7 p.m. The Disaster Feeding Van will be set up at the Coffee County Farm Center located on US 84 in New Brockton. The usual procedure is to acquaint hams with the rigs on board the van and some responsibilities given them during the time they are at some disaster site. 73 W M Todd, KT4DC This van is the Baptist feeding trailer that you may have seen during the floods in Elba or during the last hurricane at the First Baptist Church here in Enterprise. Jerry N4RYC ---------------------------------------- Electronic Edition: Hope everyone had a good holiday. I understand the dinner was well received by all. Sorry I missed it. I just barely made it back in time to attend our station (KMX) dinner. The food wasn't all that great! I wish I'd been earlier and could have gotten to Daleville in time. We'll be discussing the van (above) at our meeting this Thursday. I'm going to recommend we get a group of interested people who would like to go see the unit together Friday night and meet at the Farm Center. Or, possibly, meet someplace prior for a bite to eat, and then car-pool. Whatever. I'll send out another e-mail either Thursday night following the meeting, or sometime early Friday and let you know the plans, if any. STOLEN RADIOS According to news reports, the seven Texas prison escapees still at large and now wanted in connection with the murder of Irving, Texas, police officer Aubrey Hawkins, KC5USI, also may have stolen radios from a Houston Radio Shack store. The radios are said to include Amateur Radio 2-meter H-Ts as well as Business Radio Service (programmed for 156.400 MHz) and Family Radio Service (462.5625-467.7125 MHz) radios. Hams have been asked to monitor these bands and report any suspicious activity any hour of the day to the Huntsville Command Center, 936-437-6735, and to their local law enforcement agency. Police advise that anyone spotting these suspects not try to approach them but contact local authorities immediately. More information on the escapees is at http://people.txucom.net/tdcj-iad/ The Saturday breakfasts are still going on at 8:00 AM at Ann's in Ozark. If you can't figure out where the Enterprise group is meeting, come over to Ozark. Nothing else to report (that I can think of). As soon as I send this off I'll remember something else! CU on the radio or at the meeting. 73 N4JAG Rick Eat Well, Stay Fit, Die Anyway.
