Although many items have been decided, there are still many things to consider at our meeting. It would be helpful if you are there to make final plans. We know that we will be at the same location in the Henderson Family Park on 167 North and that we have made arrangements for power and drinks already. Who will bring what supplies and equipment has not been decided yet. So, please come to the meeting and give your input. Jerry, N4RYC -------------------------------------------------------------------- Electronic Edition: KA4AFI is on a trip to Phoenix, Arizona. He will be broadcasting his position (hopefully) via APRS. Here is the info he sent me -- Some ham radio stations broadcast their locations using the Amateur Position Reporting System (APRS). This info is available through an Internet gateway on the World Wide Web. Here is how to use your computer to find me (KA4AFI) and view my location on a map. 1. For my home station click on this URL link: http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/find.cgi?ka4afi 2. For my mobile station (in the car) click on this URL link: http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/find.cgi?ka4afi-9 3. The link will display three (3) different maps showing different 'zoom' levels. Scroll up and down to see the different maps. 4. To see other APRS hams located nearby, click on the link that says: "click here to find nearby stations" (located just above the upper map). 5. To view the listed stations on the map with me - you can scroll down to the bottom of that list and click the hyper-link that says "click here to display all the stations on a map." When I go to Phoenix, AZ (17-25 June), I will take Rick's (N4JAG) GPS with me and hope to have a radio/TNC broadcasting my mobile position during the trip. You can "flight-follow" me by searching for "KA4AFI-9" using the link above. My home station will continue to broadcast "KA4AFI" while I am gone. In order to find me on the road to Phoenix, you will have to search for my mobile ID "KA4AFI-9" with the link above. If my mobile rig is not turned ON, this link will report "Sorry, no position." The home station is always on (except computer crash or power failure). 73 - de KA4AFI Don't forget the club meeting this Thursday, and especially don't forget Field Day this weekend. We'll start setting up sometime after breakfast on Saturday and I'm sure we can use your help. We'll also need operators and assistance in tearing down on Sunday. Nothing else to report that I can think of. See you at the meeting and Field Day. 73 - N4JAG Rick Violence is the result of the wolves learning the sheep have no guns.
