Mike -- APRS (Automatic Position Reporting System) We have installed an APRS Digi on top of the Houston County Admin Building in Dothan to try to established a link with the NWS in Tallahassee,FL. The call sign is N4JAG. ------------------------------------------------- Electronic Edition: Regarding Field Day - we'll be getting together at Duane's QTH on Saturday, the 26th. If you need a map, let me know and I'll e-mail you one. Talk-in will be on 147.24+ You might want to bring a lawn chair or two. Also, this is not just for EARS members. Please invite other area hams to attend. Just try to get a head count and let me know so I'll know how much meat to buy. We will probably have a table set up and be demonstrating something - probably APRS. We'll decide that at the meeting this Thursday night too. Speaking of APRS - Jerry mentioned that we now have another wide-area digi set up for APRS in Dothan. Thanks to the following people for assisting by providing the site, equipment, expertise, manual labor, etc.: KA4WVO, WA4GIU, KM4JA, N4RYC, N4JAG. It took three days and a lot of work to get the DHN67 packet node antenna moved to a new location and the new APRS system installed and running. Thanks to all. If you want to see APRS in action go to: http://www.aprs.net You will need a new version of MS Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator (Ver 4 or above, probably) that is Java enabled to view and move around on the interactive map. Otherwise, you'll just see a fixed sample map. I've added a few new links on the EARS web site. Check it out at http://www.snowhill.com/~rickpal/ears.htm then go to the "Amateur Related Links" page or the "Other Misc Links" page. Don't forget our breakfast meetings each Saturday at Dotties in Enterprise at 7 AM or Ann's in Ozark at 8. Hope to see you at the meeting. -- Rick If at first you do succeed, try not to look too astonished. Personal Home Page & PGP Public Key at: http://www.snowhill.com/~rickpal
